We want to help YOUR family!

The SIESTA research team is looking for families of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder who can help us with this new project!

If you choose to participate in SIESTA, we will ask you to attend one

in-person lab visit to complete questionnaires and assessments. You will then attend three online intervention sessions. We will ask you the same questions

before and after the intervention so we can see how you and your child

may or may not have been impacted by the intervention. Your participation in this study can last up to 4.5 months.

What happens during the lab visit?

The first part of your participation will entail a lab visit. During this lab visit, you will provide consent for you and your child and complete questionnaires. In the meantime, your child will complete a developmental assessment that usually takes about 45 to 60 minutes to complete. They will also complete a brief cognitive assessment. After the lab visit, your child will be asked to wear a watch-like device that measures sleep called an actigraph for 14 days.

What are the intervention sessions?

The research team will randomly assign parents into either the sleep or health behavior group. Parents will be asked to attend three online one-on-one intervention sessions based on their group. These sessions are completely online, and will be scheduled to best accommodate your and our interventionists' availabilities. Following the intervention, your child will be asked to wear the actigraph again for 14 days.

What is the impact of my participation?

We are providing an evidence-based intervention at no cost as a part of this study. Your participation in this study will also help our research team to better improve an intervention option for families like yours. Throughout the duration of this study, your family can earn up to $300.
